Welcome

The King's Head is Northamptonshire's best-kept secret. This 17th century inn, situated beside the willow-lined River Nene in the picturesque village of Wadenhoe, has received rave reviews both locally and nationally in recent months. The Sunday Times reckoned it was the best riverside pub in Britain. We have to say that we agree...

In summer, the King's Head is a busy place, with its large grassy paddock, terraces and garden buzzing with activity from families arriving by boat, road, cycle or on foot (some of the best public footpaths in the East Midlands pass through the village).

In winter, things quieten down a bit, but you can rely on good food, wines and a selection of real ales in the bars and restaurant. Oh yes... and a roaring log fire, too!

Traditional Northamptonshire skittles and darts are available for the more competitive-minded customers. For walking enthusiasts, the famous Nene Way long-distance footpath passes the front door and bisects with the equally popular Lyveden Way footpath. You can follow any of the two circular walks detailed on our website or, by using OS Landranger 1:50 sheet 141, you can create you own walk using any one of the many footpaths that connect with each other in the near vicinity of The King's Head.

The pub is open all day every day Monday through to Saturday and until 4pm on Sundays.

You are always assured of a warm welcome by pub manager Matt Hards, head chef Dan Beer and our helpful and friendly staff.
